About Monoblock Vacuum Pumps
The gain from this design is space and alignment. In a coupled pump the alignment of motor and pump shafts is set during installation and can drift over time; in a monobloc that adjustment does not exist. The footprint shrinks, assembly time falls and one of the vibration-related causes of failure is removed at the design stage.
The operating principle and advantages of the liquid ring design are fully retained: wet and vapour-laden gases are handled without trouble, compression is nearly isothermal, and the attainable vacuum remains tied to the service liquid temperature.
The limit of the monobloc design is maintenance: because motor and pump form one body, coupled arrangements that allow each to be serviced separately are preferred at large capacities. At medium and small capacities the monobloc is more practical.
