Peristaltic Pumps, also known as Hose Pumps, get their name from the term "peristalsis", which means the muscle contractions that the intestines make in waves to move digested food. The wheels on the rotor driven by the shaft, which we call rollers, cause contraction and then loosening every time the hose passes over it. Every time the hose contracts as it passes over the roller, a vacuum is created and it starts to pull the fluid to be transferred towards itself. The fluid reaching into the hose is transferred by the rollers by pushing it towards the pump discharge line.
